If your gums appear to be red in color, tender and puffy you may be having the indications of swollen gums. Swollen gums is the inflammation of gum caused by plaque and may be also an allergic reaction with your toothpastes and mouthwashes and it is also one of the indications of gum disease. At the first sign of swollen gums, preventive measures must be done to control its progression. Untreated swollen gums will lead to gingivitis which is the mildest form of gum disease, however if not treated condition may further progress to advance periodontal disease affecting the gum tissues and the bones that supports the teeth and will result to tooth loose and eventually tooth loss. Don’t let advance gum disease take its toll,a the first sign of swollen gums immediately seek your dental care professionals’ help. Swollen gums and advance gum disease may be avoided when proper oral hygiene is observe.
